Every summer we ask the Lord for specific direction for the coming year. Without fail, God graciously provides His divine blueprint for Maranatha to follow. This year’s theme verse comes to us out of Isaiah 43:19 “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
The prophet Isaiah spoke powerfully in his day and speaks powerfully to us today. Here’s a little background … the children of Israel are in captivity to Babylon. Their previous victories over Egypt or Canaan weren’t going to set them free and they desperately needed God to intervene … and He does. God assures them in this section of scripture that He:
1. Did great things for their forefathers.
2. Will deliver them from captivity.
3. Promises to do a greater thing, a “new thing” for them.
4. Promises to take them to safety, abundance, and blessing …
God desires to set us free from the captivity of peer pressure, fear of failure, insecurities, perfectionism, and so much more. He wants to transform the desert areas of lives into fields of blessing and abundance. I am utterly convinced that God wants to do a new work … a new thing in each of us as well as in His school. Together let’s align with His invitation for this year. Let’s allow Him to accomplish this “new thing” in our lives.
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!
