Summer Reading for Students Entering 3rd Grade

Summer reading is required for students entering 3rd grade at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. The required summer reading assignment has two parts:

  1. Read one of the following books below and complete one of the three book project options
    attached.
  2. Read a minimum of 1,300 minutes from June 1 to August 31, 2020. Use the 3° grade reading log inside the yellow folder to keep track minutes read. At the end of the summer, parents and students are required to log their total summer reading minutes at https://bit.ly/3bp0cBE by Friday, September 4, 2020. I have partnered with Mr. Campbell to track and use the same calendar and link to record your student's summer active minutes.

*Students will earn a grade for the completion of their summer reading.

Choose one of the following books to read for the book project. All projects need to be turned in by Wednesday, September 2, 2020:

  • Adventures in Odyssey: The Imagination Station #1: Voyage with the Vikings by Marianne Hering-380L
    (Students who choose to read a book from this series and have already read #1 may choose another book in this series. Examples: #2 Attack at the Arena, #3 Peril in the Palace
    A to Z Mysteries: The Absent Author by Ron Roy - 510L
    (Students who choose to read a book from this series and have already read #1 may choose another book in this series. Examples: #2 The Bald Bandit, #3 The Canary Caper
    Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner- 580L
    (Students who choose to read a book from this series and have already read #1 may choose another book in this series. Examples: #2 Surprise Island, #3 The Yellow House Mystery
    Charlotte's Web by E.B. White - 680L
    Parents are welcome to read along with their child, if desired.
