God’s Love Letter

By: Tim Brown

If I were to offer you $1,000 for every Bible verse you memorized in the next 24 hours, what would your reaction be? If you’re like me, it would be a pretty simple response of calling into work, loading up on caffeine, and going to town (John 11:35, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, and Job 3:2 would be obvious starting points).

The interesting thing is that I can imagine my schedule rearranging all around because of a challenge like this, but apart from a looming cash stack, motivation can be a slog. Proverbs 16:16 says

“How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver.”

If I am really taking God seriously, it means I have to take his Word seriously: he promises that His wisdom is worth more than any amount of cash I could dream of filling my bank account.

The Bible will pay back dividends you can’t find anywhere else as you trust God to reveal Himself through it. Take Him at his word, meditate on it day and night, and He will make you “like a tree planted by streams of water that bears its fruit in its season” (Psalm 1:3).

I encourage you to take some time and open up God’s love letter to you this week; God Himself promises that time spent with Jesus is precious and never wasted.
