Like you, we want to instill a love of reading in your child.

Over the past two weeks, lower school students at Maranatha have celebrated summer reading. In collaboration with you, our goal at Maranatha is to instill a love of reading in your child. Summer reading offers a wonderful opportunity for students to explore new worlds, ideas, and perspectives. It helps them maintain and enhance their literacy skills during the break, ensuring they return to school ready to tackle new challenges. Whether diving into thrilling adventures, discovering historical events, or learning about different cultures, summer reading can be both educational and entertaining. It also provides a chance for students to develop a lifelong love of reading, fostering curiosity and imagination. With the flexibility of summer schedules, students can enjoy reading at their own pace, making it a relaxing and enjoyable activity.

From a biblical perspective, reading is a valuable practice that can deepen one’s faith and understanding of God’s word. The Bible encourages believers to read and meditate on scripture regularly, as seen in Joshua 1:8: “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Reading can also be a way to gain wisdom, as Proverbs 4:7 emphasizes the importance of acquiring wisdom and understanding.

Additionally, reading can help individuals grow spiritually by exposing them to various theological insights, moral teachings, and stories of faith. It can inspire and challenge readers to live out their beliefs more fully. By engaging with a variety of texts, including the Bible and other Christian literature, believers can strengthen their relationship with God and gain a deeper appreciation for His teachings.
