Katie Laing is always looking for ways to not just make her lessons engaging, but how to also fit a biblical worldview into all that she does. In high school physics, students were tasked with analyzing the story of David and Goliath through the lens of physics. “What we’re trying to figure out is about how tall is David and how far apart are they from one another,” Mrs. Laing told her students.

The Bible tells us how tall Goliath was, but some logical analysis must be made in order to figure out David’s height. After that is pinned down, students could then begin to analyze the story through distance, angle, and more. Students also created drawings throughout to help pin down the story visually and then also created actual slingshots to launch at certain angles!

The Bible is an exciting book, and this is just another way that Mrs. Laing is making it come alive for students through the lens of science.
