Mr. Richards’ middle school design lab students have been working hard polishing and perfecting their Shark Tank presentations. Mr. Richards describes the project as “[...] a good way to mix both 3D printing/modeling and marketing/entrepreneurship [...].” Giving students opportunities like this to analyze real-world problems and develop solutions is just the type of thing our STEM center works to extend to all students.
Students follow a six-step process as their products move from ideation to creation, leading to a pitch to the “sharks.” Each process step is documented and included in student portfolios handed out to judges for review and assessment. Students are working on everything from easy-to-use mini storage containers for easy access to small items like medicine to automatic locker openers to make passing time more efficient.
This is just another way that our teachers and programs here at Maranatha support students in what they are passionate about. Our STEM program is full of wide-eyed explorers who are given all the tools and support necessary to chase their dreams.
