Glow

This week, students heard a message that used the concept of glow sticks to explain how we are all called to be the light. Just as glow sticks light up, we too are meant to shine with God’s presence. Students were taught how God’s light gives us strength and courage, helping us to be brave in challenging situations like standing up for others or resisting fear. With humorous stories and props, students were encouraged to recognize that God’s light within them is a source of confidence and hope.

A central story used was Moses, who, after spending time with God, came down from Mount Sinai glowing. This radiance symbolized his close connection to God. Just as Moses relied on God’s guidance to lead the Israelites, students, too, can rely on God in times of uncertainty. The story continued with Moses leading the Israelites through the wilderness, where God provided for them through miraculous signs, showing that God’s presence is constant and faithful.

The message concluded with a call to let our light shine for others. By referencing the Israelites’ trust in God, students were reminded that the same God who led them can lead us today. Just as God was a "lifesaver" to the Israelites, Jesus is our "lifesaver," guiding us through life’s obstacles. Students were encouraged to ask Jesus to fill them with His light, so they, in turn, can shine that light for others who might need hope, kindness, and encouragement.
