Mandey Fabian’s 5th-grade science class gave cell presentations with a fun twist: students presented their information through a story or song! Students described the three stages of a cell’s growth and included ten specific vocabulary terms to create an exciting story or catchy song. The stories included illustrations and songs with descriptive language to paint a mental picture for the audience.

Mrs. Fabian’s heart behind the project is that her students realize how much God cares for them, even “down to the very cell.” Purposeful presenting skills are covered beforehand, such as looking at the audience and using a clear voice so that students can gain confidence in front of others. Mrs. Fabian also stressed the importance of being respectful to audience members. “When you are an audience, we must be respectful as listeners.” Following each presentation, students shared positive comments and critiques with the class to build each other up and congratulate them on an excellent presentation.
