Being the Hands and Feet of Jesus - A Chapel Message

This week during lower school chapel, students learned the importance of being the hands and feet of Jesus. Matthew 7:24 says, “…Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Putting God’s Word into practice includes each of us not just being a hearer of the Word, but a doer of the Word (James 1:22), otherwise we are deceiving ourselves. For when we are doers of the Word, we are doing it to the least of these and thus doing it unto the Lord (Matthew 25:40).
How can I be the hands and feet of Jesus?
We have a very tangible way that we can demonstrate the love of Jesus in our local community. Each year, we engage in Meals for Minneapolis. While it is a school fundraiser, we have chosen to participate in a service project for our local community rather than sell pizzas or other items. This allows us to focus our hearts and minds on others by engaging in an all-school packing event that provides food for those who are experiencing food insecurity.
How can I get involved as a parent?
- Set up your family site. Your child will receive a Meals for Minneapolis t-shirt once their family site it set up.
- Share your family site with family and friends by social media, text, or email.
- You can also use the donation tracker form if you prefer to connect with people in person rather than share your site digitally. Using the donation tracker, families can collect donations and have their child bring donations to their classroom teacher.
- Students will be able to earn legacy bucks to spend at our new Legacy Store.
- Help us raise $150,000 for MCA and pack 60,000 meals for our local community
