Faith US (5-12th)

Recently during chapel, we were blessed by an incredibly powerful message from Mr. Brian Zimmer, our Middle School Assistant Principal, who shared his personal testimony based on Colossians 3:12, which reminds us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

Mr. Zimmer opened by sharing his experience of being adopted into a bi-racial family. He was honest about the struggles he faced growing up, feeling a sense of shame and confusion about his identity. These experiences left him questioning where he belonged and who he was in God’s eyes. Yet, these difficulties weren’t the end of his story.

In the midst of his journey, tragedy struck when he lost his best friend in a car accident. This was a pivotal moment for Mr. Zimmer, one that left him deeply questioning his purpose and God’s plan for his life. It was a season of intense pain, confusion, and searching.

But perhaps one of the most transformative moments came when Mr. Zimmer and his wife faced the unimaginable loss of their daughter. Born without oxygen for eight minutes, doctors told them that if she survived, the journey would be long and uncertain. However, they refused to accept this outcome without first standing in faith. They began to declare over their daughter, "She will live and not die."

For 40 days, they walked closely with the Lord, standing in faith for their daughter’s full recovery and restoration. Yet, in the midst of their prayers and belief, they came to a profound realization: "Whether she lives or dies, we will serve the Lord." This surrender to God’s will was a turning point for them spiritually.

And as Mr. Zimmer shared, God performed a miracle. Their daughter, Selah, not only survived but continues to thrive, defying the medical odds with no long-term effects. Doctors still can’t explain how she survived, but we know that God had His hand upon her.

This story is a testament to God’s faithfulness even in the darkest moments. Mr. Zimmer’s message reminded us all that no matter what we face—whether it's pain, loss, or uncertainty—we can trust in God’s plan and continue to serve Him. His message left us encouraged to hold onto faith, trusting that God can bring miracles in the most unlikely of circumstances.

Praise the Lord for Selah's life and for the incredible testimony of Mr. Zimmer’s faith and perseverance!
