Who is God? An Upper School Chapel
Last week in chapel, Pastor Josh concluded his mini-series on “Who is God?” This time, we are talking about the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is the Son of God, but He stepped out of heaven and became man to save mankind. From the very beginning, this was God's plan to fix what was broken when sin entered the world through Adam. 1 Corinthians 15:22 explains that while Adam's sin brought death, Jesus brings life. Every other religion is man’s attempt to reach up to God. In Christianity, God came down to us. We don’t serve a distant God (Hebrews 4:15).
The Holy Spirit didn’t just show up in Acts 2. He’s been there from the beginning and found throughout the Old Testament, coming upon great men and women to help them accomplish great things for God. Moses wished for everyone to have the Holy Spirit (Numbers 11:16-35). Joel prophesied it would happen one day (Joel 2:28). Jesus promised He would send the Holy Spirit (John 16:7). And we are living in those days now. The Holy Spirit empowers us to live the life God created us for.
Jesus came down to earth to get down in the dirt with His creation. To meet us where we are. Then He died to save us, rose again to redeem us, and sent the Holy Spirit to empower us to live the life that He created us to live.
